Self-taught, I have been painting for 15 years but seriously since 2005.
During my early youth, I drew sketches on all kinds of flying papers.
After a training based on women fashion design, that I attended in Paris,
I decided to work on canvas. But “What kind of paint should I use ?”,
was my question. I decided to try acrylic because it seemed to be very
easy to use at the beginning. Also I realized that it suited my style
very well, that is to draw pure colours outlined by dark borders. In fact,
it is a style used in Belgian comics, “Images d’Epinal”, Japanese prints
and the cloisonism art movement initiated by Emile Bernard and Paul Gauguin.
My aim is to generate mystery in my paintings. In that way, I only draw
parts of a body or a face and use refined shapes. I do not create any
perspective effects nor use any shadow common technics. Dark feelings
are not necessarily my preference in Art although it is interesting to
analyse why just the addition of paint + canvas + idea can lead us to
such a feeling or to the opposite… My primary aim is to arouse positive
ones. So I hope that my personal “addition” leads people to that result!
However, I prefer that my paintings arouse reactions, good or bad, which
is better than indifference!
As regularly as I can, I organise personal exhibitions in Paris and Brittany
and take part in collective ones. If you would like further information
