| "All I Want is a room in gay Paree..." June, 1974 Our own hotel in
Paris? Yes, my friends, it is true! I hope to acquire soon a small 30
room hotel in Montparnasse (less than five walking minutes from the Coupole).
It will, of course, be in no sense ordinary. First and foremost it will
be co-operatively owned. We need 30 individuals to agree to take a room,
paying $1,500 in advance. The $45,000 thus raised will secure us the necessary
mortgage. |
Those who elect to live in the hotel will also pay a modest monthly rent, (about $75.). Others can allow us to rent their rooms, but will always be assured of a room in Paris. The hotel will cost
approximately $150,000. That is $5,000 times 30 individuals. We will be
able to spread the mortgage payments over ten or fifteen years. |
Hotel will offer hot and cold running maid service, a sauna, a house colour video system (we have a large collection of video tapes already), a small restaurant (featuring Mexican delights), a library (books, magazines, and newspapers), a travel service, a 24 hour answering service, sexual counselling, etc etc etc The benefits are many and obvious. And instead of paying rent all your life, we can own our own cell, albeit small, in the middle of Paris! (And once this hotel is established, we can think about another one in another city...). Speed is important. The hotel is not on the market yet. The owner is willing to sell it to us first if we act quickly. So far, ten friends have made firm promises. We need another 20... If this interests
you, contact me immediately. If you can put up more than $l,50O it would
(a) help those who would like to join us but are unable to raise this
sum and (b) the more money we can raise, the easier it will be to get
a mortgage. |
If Christopher Columbus
could take a chance, why can't you? Just be cause he died of syphilis
in debtor's prison doesn't mean the same is in your future... |
